2010 Pokerstars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP)

You know what spring time means – evening rain, trees turning green, and the annual Spring Championship of Online Poker. Just like the spring season after a long winter, the SCOOP is an exciting time. With 38 events and $45,000,000 in guaranteed prizes, Pokerstars players have an opportunity to win a ton of money.

The action starts on May 2, 2010, but satellite tournaments are running now. If you’d like to play in some cheap satellites for the 2010 SCOOP, register your new account at Pokerstars.

A unique twist to the SCOOP is that is has three versions of each tournament, meaning that there are really 114 tournaments being played. Each event has small, medium and large size buy-in, making it affordable for all real money players.

Two or three events are running every day from May 2nd through May 16th, 2010. With a total of 6-9 SCOOP tournaments being run every single day, there are plenty of opportunities to join.

Pokerstars SCOOP Tournaments

As mentioned above, there are 38 poker tournaments being held in the 2010 SCOOP. These include a mixture of Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 5 Card Draw, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, Razz, Badugi, 2-7 Triple Draw, 8 Game, and HORSE tournaments.

Small Buy-In Tournaments

Most of the buy-ins for the smaller events range from $5.50 to $22, with a couple that are larger. Prize pools for these events range from $25,000 up to a cool million dollar.

Medium Buy-In Tournaments

Medium buy-in tournaments have direct buy-ins of $55 – $1050, with guaranteed prizes in the $50,000 – 3 million range.

Large Buy-In Tournaments

Most of the large buy-in tournaments have buy-ins that range from $530 – $2100, with a few that are bigger. The biggest buy-in is Event #35, a NL Holdem heads-up tournament. Tournament Event #38 is the Main Event, with a direct buy-in of $10,300. This event has a huge guaranteed prize pool of $5 million, and a minimum of $1 million going to the winner.

What We Love About the 2010 Pokerstars SCOOP

First, Pokerstars does a great job of making these tournaments available to anyone who wants to play. No longer do you have to win satellites or fork out thousands of dollars to get into the action. While cheap satellites are available for all events, the direct buy-ins are not out of reach for most players.

We also love that the 2010 SCOOP is offering so many non-Holdem tournaments. For those that are good at Razz, Badugi, or some of the other games that most players are weak in, there is an opportunity to make some big money against less fierce competition. Texas Holdem tournaments have become very tough, with lots of skilled players. However, get some experience and Razz and it won’t take you long to see how bad most people are at this game. A lot of players in these types of tournaments will join just to join, meaning there are lots of fish to take advantage of.

The satellite tournaments for the 2010 Pokerstars.net SCOOP start for as little as $.25 or 33 Frequent Player Points (FPP’s). Players can choose satellites that lead to seats in any SCOOP tournament they would like to play in, giving you lots of cheap ways to get in.

The Pokerstars SCOOP only comes around once a year. If you miss it this time, you’ll have to wait until spring 2011 to try again. With so much money to win, and as little as it costs to play, why not give it a shot? Write down Pokerstars marketing code PSA1037 and sign up now!
