Without surprise the Pokerstars WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) is back in 2009 – and bigger than ever before. Pokerstars recently announced the schedule for the 2009 WCOOP and of course they’re making it a huge event. This years WCOOP has a record $40,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools for the 45 scheduled events.
The 2009 Pokerstars WCOOP will run 45 different events, which include three High Roller tournaments, and will finish off with the popular No Limit Holdem Main Event (that has a $10 Million guarantee itself). The first event will start on September 3rd with a smaller $215 buy-in NL Holdem event, and will wrap up on September 21st with the second day of the $5,200 buy-in NL Holdem Main Event. These 18 days of Pokerstars WCOOP tournaments will be action packed, with some of the best online players and big name pros participating.
The great thing about the WCOOP at Pokerstars is that players with a small bankroll can get a chance to play. Players can qualify for as little as $1 in the daily satellites which begin July 5th. Satellites start at $1 or 100 FPP’s and run at all times of the day. Players can also win seats for the WCOOP by playing in the popular Steps satellites which are available for all 45 events. In order to find the WCOOP satellites, visit the Pokerstars lobby and click on the ‘events’ tab. Once there, click on the WCOOP tab to see a list of all the satellites that are running. If you don’t have a Pokerstars account yet make sure you enter the Pokerstars marketing code PSA1037 during registration to receive a $600 bonus.
Last year, Pokerstars gave out just under $40,000,000 in prizes to WCOOP participants in 33 events. The 2008 WCOOP Main Event had 2185 players take part, and a prize pool of just under $11 million. This year, Pokerstars has guaranteed it will top last years overall prize money.
Some of the most popular WCOOP events will include the $530 NL Holdem 2 day tournament, the $1050 NL Holdem 2 day event, and of course the $5200 NL Hold’em Main Event tournament.
