Pokerstars has done it again, launching yet another fun promotion for players with big bucks on the line. Players have a chance to represent their country in the Pokerstars Americas Cup of Poker for a chance to win $100,000. This promotion is an online battle between countries that will eventually lead to 8 countries qualifying for the live event held in Argentina – boasting a $250,000 prize pool.
Players from the following 16 countries can participate in the Pokerstars Americas Cup of Poker event: USA, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Guatemala, Panama, and Honduras.
Starting on July 27th, players from each country can compete against opposing countries in tournaments that are free or have $0.20 or $5.50 buy-ins. People playing in the tournaments will score points for their respective countries, plus for themselves to try and qualify into the live tournament.
The countries are split into four different groups, where two countries from each group will send qualifying players to the live event. Each country spends six days facing off against other countries in their group to decide which two countries will attend the live event in Argentina. Group A consists of USA, Mexico, Ecuador and Guatemala. Group B consists of Canada, Columbia, Uruguay and Panama. Group C consists of Chile, Venezuela, Peru and Costa Rica. Group D consists of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Honduras.
Players who finish in the top 100 will record points for their respective countries. The freerolls award the least points and the $5.50 buy-in tournament awards the most points. With that said, all three events are important for the country to have a shot of moving on. Each of the eight teams who advance to the Americas Cup of Poker Finals will send the five players that won the most points for their team. On top of the five qualifying players, Pokerstars is sending one Team Pokerstars Pro to be an additional member to each team. This will give you an awesome chance to play with a pro poker player!
The live Pokerstars Americas Cup of Poker event is taking place at a beautiful ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina. This will be a once in a lifetime trip for any players who qualify, not even taking into consideration the amount of cash that can be won. The first place team will take down a $100,000 prize, with second place receiving a nice $60,000. The third to eighth place teams will also take home a very generous five figure prize.
