Pokerstars

Pokerstars is the largest online poker room in the world. Over 200,000 simultaneous players are at the tables during peak hours, which is almost three times as many as the next closest room. For the more popular tournaments and cash games, traffic is never an issue. There are literally thousands of sit-n-go tournaments that run every day, and hundreds at a time – all the time.

That’s not all though, as they also have other Sunday tournaments with prize pools in the $100,000 – $300,000 range. Satellite and qualifier tournaments for each of these events are available, many for as little as $1 or 20 Frequent Player Points.

The SCOOP usually takes place in April, and the 2010 SCOOP should be the biggest ever. In 2009 there was over $40 million in prizes paid out, across 22 events. For 2010 the schedule will likely be expanded, and a total prize pool of $50 million or more is expected.

Pokerstars Bonus

The Pokerstars bonus is 100% up to $600. This bonus just started in August 2009, and we hope it sticks around a while. Up until August, $50 was the only bonus Pokerstars offered. If you’ve been thinking about signing up at Pokerstars, now would be a good time to do it – while the bonus is still available. They haven’t told us when it will end, but they usually don’t tell us this stuff ahead of time…so we won’t have time to warn you.

When Pokerstars introduced the new deposit bonus, they also changed the clearing requirements for the better. Micro stakes and low stakes cash game players now earn Frequent Player Points, which means they can earn bonus money. Up until the recent changes, it was close to impossible for micro & low stakes cash game players to earn FPP’s. For more details about earning FPP’s and bonus money, read our Pokerstars bonus page.
